WE ARE HURRICANE READY

Ranger Drainage District implemented our Hurricane Plan on Friday (9/23/2022).  All canal riser barrels, grates/catch basins have been checked and all debris removed.  Canal 5 takes on most of the water from the City Area and is being drawn down to allow for extra storage.  If the winds for our area are expected to be above 40 mph then staff will not report for duty.  As our last project prior to the storm, we will be inspecting all grates in the City Area and The Reserve.

Please make sure the mouth of your driveway culvert pipes and the pipe itself are free from ALL debris.  This is extremely important to allow the water to flow freely.  Remove all items out of the swale/ditch.

Our staff works year-round to maintain the drainage system therefore we are confident that it is functioning to its full potential.  However, keep in mind if a large amount of rain comes at one time there could be some delay in the water draining off, especially if the Econ River is backed up.

The Ranger Drainage Office will close if needed.  If you have concerns, please call our office at 407-568-5502 and leave a message or send an e-mail to dawnmullins@rddfl.com   Again, phone calls and e-mails will be returned once the storm has passed and it is safe to return to the area.

Leaishar Cheremont with Principal Longhouse.jpg

RDD's General Manager Dawn Mullins announces the recipient of the

2022 CECIL DAVIS AGRI-SCIENCE award.

Leaishar Cheremond is the 2022 Recipient of the

Cecil Davis Agri-Science Outstanding Achievement Award

Congratulations Leaishar Cheremond, shown here with her Wedgefield School Principal Randall Longhouse!

According to Leaishar's science teacher Sara Cooper,

"Leaishar was a wonderful asset to the Agriscience classroom. She volunteered her time to assist with building the new chicken coop for the school, served as the FFA President for our school’s chapter as well as took on a leadership role amongst her peers. Leaishar and I discussed her future in the Ag community – she expressed how much she learned this year tending the vegetable garden at school. She is interested in continuing that education informally."
